Discover some of Ethiopia’s most spectacular scenery in the Simien Mountains National Park, dubbed the "Tibet of Africa". Marvel at dramatic landscapes of gorges, chasms and precipices formed by volcanic activity over 40 million years ago. Trek along trails which for centuries have connected remote villages and pasturelands. Witness an abundance of wildlife including walia ibex, gelada baboon and the rare Simien fox.
DAY 1: Fly London - Addis Ababa.
DAY 2: Time to explore Addis Ababa.
DAY 3: Fly Addis Ababa – Gonder to overnight.
DAY 4: Transfer to the Simien Mountain National Park headquarters at Debark (2 hours). Set off through highland pastures, climb Sawre Hill (3100m) and camp at Sankaber (3240m). 6-7 hrs
DAY 5: Descend into a gorge forged by the Wazla River stopping at a viewpoint and the impressive Jinbar Waterfall en-route. Trek through Jinbar Valley to Gich village and onto Gich camp (3600m). 6-8 hrs
DAY 6: Set off to Imet Gogo, the most spectacular viewpoint in the Simien Mountains (3926m). Camp at Chennek (3620m) the best spot in the area for wildlife. 7-9 hrs
DAY 7: Ascend to Bwahit Pass (4430m) for 360º views of the surrounding area. Descend to the edge of the national park (3600m). Transfer to Gonder for celebratory meal. 5 hrs
DAY 8: Fly Gonder – Addis Ababa to await connection to London.
DAY 9: Fly Addis Ababa – London.
