Meet Dr Sophie Thomson, Consultant Medical Advisor

I have been accompanying charity cycle rides and treks as a volunteer doctor with Classic Tours since 1997. I am trained in general medicine and psychiatry and retired from my post as NHS consultant last year and now have more time to enjoy life and go on more challenges. I help out as a locum in A&E and reading and learning about the medical problems that we encounter on our trips. In 2006 I was appointed to the role of Consultant to Classic Tours and now advise about suitability of events for individuals with clinical problems and work with the other volunteer doctors in teaching sessions. I enjoy finding creative solutions to all sorts of problems, have travelled a lot since I left my home in Australia and enjoy being part of a lifestyle that helps people find the best in themselves.
